Some of my best memories with these titles has been learning a valuable lesson and restarting. I believe what makes you enjoy Paradox games is not only the strategic depth the games offer once you learn everything but the feeling of exploration as you dive into a title and work out modifiers and new strategies. Arumba another youtuber is poking at mechanics trying to figure them out. The big secret however is even fans struggle with learning the games at the start, Quill has been frustrated, a well known youtuber with learning the game in his first let’s play. When I first started with the games especially ck2 I was extremely lost, I read guides and played many games to start to learn, I eventually got EU4 and that clicked much faster, Stellaris is different in the sense that it is not what you normally would expect from Paradox… I have recently started getting into Paradox games myself with CK2, and they are complex and sometimes convoluted ( Once you learn the Paradox way however learning new games is extremely easy in comparison and I am finding HOI 4 much easier). I'm sure it isn't, but I really just don't have the energy for this.
I understand that the allure of this game IS the complexity, but if Paradox wanted to make a more streamlined game that is more accessible to players like me, I don't think they've succeeded at all. It was just bringing up way too many questions while answering only a few. Things had a "construction cost", but I had no idea where to track my resources for that cost.

It didn't explain how to produce specific resources that I had deficiencies of, or where exactly I can even track their production. I still have no idea what "adding units" does, and why it doesn't seem to take up resources. I just didn't feel like it helped me grasp how to play in the long term at all. Now go attack this, take a bathroom break, you win! Once again, don't ask why this is the best to do it.
Don't ask why, just do it exactly like this. With Stellaris, everything kind of fell into place naturally, despite not learning every single thing right off the bat. After completing the tutorial, I still had a bajillion more questions. The biggest reason? The tutorial in HOI4 is SEVERELY lacking. HOI4 is WAY more complicated than Stellaris to learn. My first one being Stellaris, and here's my verdict:
